Overview

The Community Safety Department coordinates various programs, and is fostering new initiatives to increase the ability of ALIB members to effectively navigate the Legal System with more understanding, and fewer issues and complications.

Initiatives

• Gladue Report Assistance Justice Committee
• Justice Engagement Know your legal rights
• Legal system navigation (Family Law, Legal Aid, Native Courtworkers, Victim Services)
• Liaising with enforcement agencies (Conservation, Corrections, Probation, RCMP – Indigenous Policing) Restorative Justice
